\u201cHEROIC\u201d VITICULTURE<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

That is how work on our land is described, due to the characteristic\u00a0steep terraces<\/strong>\u00a0surrounded by\u00a0dry-stone walls<\/strong>\u00a0that prevent us from using machinery for vineyard operations.<\/p>

Nature\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 changeable and unpredictable \u2013 has an enormous influence on the crop.<\/em><\/p>

The vines grow at\u00a0altitudes<\/strong>\u00a0between 400 and 1000 metres above sea level, which is\u00a0unique in DOC production worldwide<\/strong>. In a zone where Mediterranean and mountain climates meet, the vines survive a\u00a0temperature range\u00a0<\/strong>varying by as much as 30\u02da on summer nights.<\/p>

This climatic characteristic makes Etna\u00a0an island within the island of Sicily<\/strong>, following its own rules for the harvest and for the care of grapes that are often threatened by rain and hail.<\/p>

Despite these challenges,\u00a0the people have never given up\u00a0<\/strong>and wine companies continue to be created and to improve the quality of DOC Etna with their commitment and passion.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A UNIQUE TERROIR<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The soil, with its thousands of millennia-old stratifications and discontinuous sedimentation of volcanic ash<\/strong> and lapilli<\/strong> (little stones), is an excellent partner, giving character and flavour to the wine.

Each vine has its own story and individual characteristics. Very few non-native vines<\/strong> are planted in this richly traditional region.

Etna\u2019s terroir is uniquely complex<\/strong>; you won\u2019t find it anywhere else.
