d’A is Sicilian wine’s ambassador to the world.
It is a varietal, made from generous bunches of Nero d’Avola picked with care in the extensive hilly vineyards in the heart of Sicily.
Interpreted with experience and respect for tradition, this wine is a premium product from grapes selected with dedication by our family for several generations.
IN THE VINEYARD
Hilly vineyards within the fertile areas of Riesi, Butera and Mazzarino, about 500 m (1640 feet) above sea level on calcareous-clayey soils of medium consistency.
The very ripe grapes are picked by hand in mid-September.
QUANTITY PER HECTARE
100-120 quintals (10,000-12,000 kg) per hectare.
IN THE WINERY
Vinification: The premium Nero d’Avola grapes are vinified as a varietal, with a long temperature-controlled maceration and fermentation.
Ageing: at least 12 months in 25 hl oak barrels, followed by at least 12 months in bottle.
d’A has an intense ruby red colour with purple tones. Soft and well-balanced, this wine has aromas of red fruits with the variety’s pleasant spicy notes, matched with toasted almond and vanilla from the big barrels.
